Leonard Benson: In brief
Leonard was born in Brooklyn and raised in Stanford Connecticut. An all-star letterman in track and field, hockey and tennis, and went on to graduating with Bachelor of Science degrees in both English and Broadcasting at Emerson College in 1960.
Leonard served in the U.S. Army and then his career went through many changes. From a disk jockey, news reporter, news director at several radio and television stations, to a being a professional gambler and gambling strategy consultant.
Leonard has lived in Las Vegas for the last 30 years. For the first 10 of those years he lived the high life solely by gambling professionally, beginning in 1978 with blackjack then followed by craps. In 1988 He founded the Leonard Benson Company, which allowed him to continue gambling and also to teach others. Teaching first through personal lessons and then home-study courses with manuals and videos.

Take Brooklyn-born Leonard Benson for example.
This good-looking fella, raised in Stamford, Connecticut, an all-star letterman in track and field, hockey and tennis, graduated with Bachelor of Science degrees in English and Broadcasting at Emerson College in 1960.
Like a shot out of a circus cannon, Leonard went flying into marriage, disk jockey stints in Maine and New Hampshire and hardly caught his breath before he enlisted in U.S. Army Communications at Fort Dix, NJ.
When his hitch was completed, he took up news casting as a reporter on radio stations WHIH in Norfolk, VA and WFDF in Flint, MI.
Now here is a highly-nervous guy. Within a year he was a news director on radio station KQV in Pittsburgh, moved to St. Louis and KSD radio and TV stations.
He kept his own track-meet pace by becoming news director of KSD TV in St. Louis. He started to dabble in real estate. That led him to Las Vegas where he started to invest in land, heeding the expert advise that "Las Vegas is the fastest growing area in the nation."
By 1973, following his visit here during a broadcasting convention, the 6'1" dynamo decided to make Las Vegas his home. He bumped into a prospective buyer of one of his choice pieces in Clark County, who claimed he was making a living playing craps in local casinos. It was to be the Las Vegas version of "Let's Make A Deal."
He had discovered that Leonard was an expert in blackjack. He watched him, time and again, walk away from the "21" tables with important money. So, it came to pass that Leonard revealed his knowledge of "21" and the man taught him the mysteries of the galloping dominoes.
Within a few months, Leonard found that he could actually make more money at the craps tables than he could playing "21". Besides, he didn't like the occasional casino hassle when the house thought he was "counting cards."
Forget newscasts. Benson says his past 16 years have been devoted to beating the games of craps, not only in Las Vegas, but at Lake Tahoe, Reno and Atlantic City. He reveals that many times me "makes his bundle" and is out of the casino before the pit bosses even know what has happened.
Of course, it's "legit." But, as Leonard points out, playing craps for profit is hard work. "It requires total concentration. That means stamina, self-control, a sense of timing and money management and a knowledge of the structure of the game."
He says, "You are working here with numbers. You must have patience and be aware of the good bets that are on the table and to avoid the poor percentage wagers, especially the so-called 'proposition bets.'"
Leonard confesses that the 16 years of professional play have taken its toll. "It's no more of the excitement that I felt until recently when I made the decision that I was just getting tired of playing."
And so, what do you think? That led him into his new role as a "professional gambling consultant." Now, for a modest fee, he is revealing his method of play with a structured 7-point program.
"It's for professional craps shooters or beginners," he says. He delights in his personal approach as a professor in the College of Craps.
That means he can often be found on the Strip or in one of the big downtown Casino Center gaming halls with one or more of his students, "betting with both hands" as he applies the Benson method to win big money from the two heartless cubes.
He says he has found a "whole new world of satisfaction" in teaching others how to win at craps. "That's why I spend most of my time these days showing others how to win important money and improve their lives or lifestyles."
"I will confess that even though I am tired of playing almost every day as I used to, I still get the itch to play." And he does.
