I started my gambling career playing blackjack as a professional card counter. In the 1960's and early 70's, card counting was exceptionally lucrative. I made considerably more money playing blackjack than I earned being a news broadcaster on radio and television.
Since then, however, blackjack has arguably become the hardest game in the casino to beat. The average winning hand these days is 18 1/2! Try coming up with that hand after hand. It's simply not going to happen.
A second factor that has changed dramatically since I was playing is that the games have become much more choppy. The advent of multiple decks and shuffle machines, coupled with cut cards, burn cards, stripping and a host of other disruptive casino shuffling techniques have created a more random, back-and-forth game. The old hand-shuffled one-deck or two-deck games created longer trends or "streaks" due to the order the dealers picked up the busted hands and put them in the discard tray.
THOSE DAYS OF LONG BLACKJACK STREAKS ARE OVER!

THE KEY TO ALL GAMBLING SYSTEMS.
Let me take a minute to explain the basis of all gambling problems and why we feel our new millennium method is so special.
All casino games are basically 50/50, "zero sum" games that the house provides for the pleasure of gamers.
"The house," the casino, merely brokers the bet, referees the game in case of disputes, deals the game and provides the luxurious setting, the decks of cards, the green felt tables, the distracting bunnies serving drinks. For this service you pay a small "vig" or "vigorish" of anywhere from 1.4% on a certain craps bet to a walloping 19% on slots and still worse, keno.
In a "zero sum" game a coin will come up heads 50% of the time and tails the other 50% in the long run -- ultimately balancing the scales of justice at zero. Nobody really wins in the long run, it's a break-even situation where gamblers are betting on short-term trends or "streaks."
The only guy who is a guaranteed winner is the bank, the casino, that makes the small increments of "vig" money from both sides of the coin -- no matter who wins and who loses.
Without the house providing the games and the wonderful, spectacular environment fit for kings and queens there wouldn't be any games to have any winners or losers. So we should not begrudge them their middleman money. Instead, we should thank them for all their efforts and merely add that percentage to the “nut” we have to bust in order for our systems to come out ahead of the other players as the clear, slam dunk winner.
Nor should the casinos begrudge us -- the handful of professionals who chose to take it upon ourselves to get educated in these games instead of just handing over our money to them like blind idiots. Mutual respect can go a long way.
Here's the point . . .
What we need to beat this grand balancing act of a zero sum game is to tip the scales in our favor by winning more when we win and losing less when we lose. Progressions are the key!
