Fear of the Seven
Well, here I am again back at the craps tables. And I think it’s about time we addressed on the greatest “psychological traumas” in casino gambling: THE FEAR OF THE SEVEN. In fact, every time I hear a dealer yell out SEVEN, I still cringe with fear. There is something so final about a call of seven and most craps players just shrivel up inside.
But why? Why are all craps players instinctively scared o the seven? When you think about it for a second the reason is simple: Most craps players just play “with” the dice. That is, they play just one way and a seven usually destroys their roll and creates havoc with their buy-in. In fact, “do” players have only one way to win with the seven: on the pass line. After that, every roll of the dice is like walking through a field of land minds, with the seven just waiting to explode.
Bottom line, we understand that most players will never get over the fear of the seven. That’s because most players probably first started playing craps on the “do”side. They will always remember the many sessions when the seven destroyed their “with” bets.
