Casino Hopping

I’d like to talk about a departure rule that I use every time I play: CASINO HOPPING. It is not as exotic as it may sound but has been essential to my winning. That is, any time I have played out my three table or five side rule in craps and I am down less than half of my investment, I will play another session at another casino. In other words, I will hop or move to the next casino on the boardwalk (most of the times I play in AC) and look for a casino that is working for me.

The logic behind this departure rule is simple: Departure rules are designed to get us off tables that are not working to tables that are working.

Well, can’t we apply that same logic to the casino as a whole? Aren’t there times that a particular casino is not working for us? If none of the tables on the do or the don’t side are working in that casino, why stay and play? There are plenty of casinos in AC and Vegas with plenty of tables to choose from. Maybe we can find a trend on one of these tables. Maybe we can’t. But we do know on thing: that particular casino, just like that particular table, just ain’t working. Get out! It’s the same departure rule that we have always been playing but with a little twist.

But again, like every departure rule, it must be followed within your money management. That is, if I play my first session and lose 6 or 7 units, then I would not consider CASINO HOPPING because I have lost too much in that one session. Remember, our SESSION INVENTMENT is 10 units. If I lose over half of this investment in one casino, I am now approaching the worse case scenario of Pascal’s Wager: LOSING A LOT! No matter what, I will avoid this scenario! I look to wait three or four hours before playing another session or just play another game, like baccarat. I never allow the possibility of a big losing day. And a big loss to me is losing more than my investment in one session over two casinos!

But if I lose only 3 or 4 units, then I will extend that session to two casinos because even if I have a terrible loss in the next casino, I will only be down 9 or at the most 10 units. A very controllable loss. I have allowed my money management to determine whether to move to another casino, not my desire to gamble.

Anyway, this rule can also be applied to the Internet. You can casino hop from web site to web site. I also found this very helpful in Vegas with casinos that have only one craps table in action. So if a casino only has one table and I lose at that table after playing out my table departure rules, I would just walk to the next casino and play out the next table as part of that session. I am not going to stay at that one casino, at that one table, for three different players if it is not winning!

So our new rule is a follows: Our SESSION INVESTMENT is 10 units. We will look to play 3 tables or 5 sides in that one casino. If we are down less than half an investment, or 5 units, after playing out the three table or “5 Side” Rule, then we will CASINO HOP and extend our SESSION to two casinos. If we are down over 5 units our session is over. Hope this helps.
