All About Roulette Systems
The game of Roulette is among the oldest and most prominent casino games in the world. It boils down to nothing more than a game of chance that makes it near impossible for anyone to predict the next outcome with any of the widely advertised roulette systems. However, there are those who do manage to show a profit playing this game by instituting a few useful roulette strategies. Roulette varies quite a bit from craps, and the strategies implemented for each vary as well.
Much of a craps strategy depends on finding a hot table to begin with. A hot craps table is easy to notice in a casino. As soon as you come in the door, you will be able to trace the loudest roar you hear back to a craps table. That doesn’t really apply in roulette, and, even if a roulette table was “hot”, you probably wouldn’t know it. So, the strategies for productive roulette play are a bit different, and here are three fairly common versions.
- First System: It is all about the colors
A roulette wheel is fairly simple when it comes to colors. It offers only three colors to choose from, red, black and green. This is a slight variation between a European and American wheel. A European wheel offers 18 red numbers, 18 black numbers and a green 0. Conversely, the American version offers one extra slot, a green 00. This first of our roulette systems concentrates your betting on either red or black. The basic strategy used by most players is to place their bet on a single color, let us say black.
If that wager is unsuccessful, then they bet on that same color again, while doubling the wager amount, until they are successful. The dangerous part of that is that there could always be multiple consecutive results of the opposite color from which you are betting. If that continues too long, you could end up either hitting the table limit, or running out of money. Sometimes, taking a loss is not a terrible thing. Place a cap on what you are willing to lose, and walk away from the table at that point.
- Second System: Odds or Evens
As far as roulette strategies go, this is a simple one, and not unlike the color system. The bettor has a 48.6 chance of winning at any time, with a house edge of 2.8%. Most guides advise players to place their bet on the opposite of the current outcome. For example, you would be placing a wager on even immediately after an odd has come up. The key is not to bet on every turn.
You want to watch for patterns and conditions to develop. If three consecutive evens come up, then go ahead and place a bet on odd. If that bet fails, don’t immediately re-bet the wager. Wait for that condition to develop again, and then repeat your bet, except doubling your bet each time until you win.
- Third System: Hi/Lo Wagering
The slots on a roulette wheel are numbered from zero to 36. Obviously, 1-18 are deemed “low” and 19-36 “high”. This system is again very similar to the roulette systems already discussed. This is specifically a one time betting system where you make your wager when the condition is met.
Continually doubling your wager after a loss is not recommended for this system. You want to start by setting a number for your condition, usually 5 or 6. Then, when the outcome lands on high or low for that many consecutive spins, you jump in and place a wager on the opposite. Whether you win or lose, it is best to sit out until the condition is met once again.
