Here’s why. . . .

The cards are shuffled, either by hand or by a machine. The problem (for the casinos) is that there is no way to shuffle the cards enough to produce totally random decks. For one deck, it would take 26 shuffles. A six-deck shoe would have to be shuffled 156 times to create a truly random result. Eight decks would require 208 shuffles to produce total randomness.

For casinos, that is totally out of the question. The downtime would kill the game. Customers would get bored and wander off. Besides, the casino isn’t making money while the dealer is shuffling. Driven by the economics of the game, dealers and machine shufflers do not achieve randomness, so CARDS CLUMP!

• We usually don’t count these extra wins, however, because they provide you with a substantial CUSHION for defense as well as being available for the rare occasions when you need extra money to make double down and split bets for offense. The most “serious” flaw inherent in card counting is that the entire strategy is based on computer simulated games of random cards. As I mentioned previously, in a real-life blackjack game, the cards are not random because they are not shuffled nearly enough. This causes them to clump.

The second biggest flaw is that clumps are of no value to card counters! In fact, clumps often hurt the count, as card counting strategies require players to put out high bets on dealer-favorable low card clumps and scale their bets down when the high cards favorable to them are coming out!

Card counting can actually hurt the counter because it
can be neutralized by card clumping. Even attempts
to track clumps from shuffle to shuffle have failed.

With SNC BLACKJACK, catching a clump of wins is the same, and most times better, than catching a high player-biased count. With SNC BLACKJACK’s unique betting progression you can:

There are even more flaws in the original card counting strategy. The method was based on single-deck games. Since then, however, the casinos have thwarted the single-deck advantage by creating multiple-deck games. First there were four decks, then six and now there are eight-deck shoes to counteract the counters. It is extremely hard to find single-deck games these days. Even if you do, you should not play them because the blackjack payoffs and other player benefits have been reduced.

In real-life play there are also cards that can’t be counted, such as buried or hidden cards. Every unseen card affects the true count so, once again, the whole methodology is skewed. The data originally entered into computers has been subsequently rendered useless by the casinos.

Yet another problem is that when the count changes, the basic strategy itself has to be modified. YOU NEED TO MEMORIZE DIFFERENT STRATEGIES FOR DIFFERENT COUNTS!

There are other problems as well, like casino heat for counters, angry pit bosses breathing down your neck because they think you are counting, eyes in the sky and all the various ways they have created to crush card counters - but you get the picture. That’s stacking a huge part of the deck against you before you even get dealt your first card . . . and that is AFTER you had spent a monumental amount of time and effort learning the card-counting system so you could "enjoy" your 1.5 to 2% edge over the house IF you played your cards perfectly. And that’s a big IF!
